My July Glambox- A total disappointment!

Want to know how disappointed I am with my July Glambox? The fact that I didn’t even feel like writing about it surely gives you the idea. But I can’t just let this go “un-said” !

Glambox had come up with “themed” boxes for the months of May, June and July. The themes seemed really interesting and so was the reason I subscribed once again(despite the fact that I swore not to after last year’s experience),just to be disappointed again.

July theme was all about Givenchy’s partnership with Glambox. Exclusive box with luxury products from Givenchy. This was too oomphy to hear. So I subscribed! The box was delivered on a Friday and in U.A.E it is supposed to be off for all offices, so I was excited as a kid saying “my oh my, Glambox really went our of their way to make us feel special by delivering on an off day!” The box contained 4 thumb-sized products! I started calculating how much I paid instead of opening the goodies. I paid aed205 for 3 months for something not worthy at all. The first box was stuffed with Bioderma products ,some samples and 2 full-sized which was acceptable for me. The June box also had 4 products with only 1 full size and that too a black nail polish which was a total turn off. Now July box came with stuff I can easily get at Sephora as samples!! One of the items in the box is Givenchy lipstick which I already got as a sample the last time I shopped at Sephora, I loved it and so I talked about it here.

I know I liked that lipstick but it doesn’t mean I’m going to pay to get another sample of that.

Today I will admit, Glambox was way better in 2014 where they used to send some discount cards and vouchers for well-known parlors for free services etc. Now…:/

The thumb-sized product is just so unacceptable. Specialy for the skincare products, I am totally against samples for skincare products specially when the quantity won’t even let us use it enough to judge if it really works and is worth buying. Let me tell you this, all of the above I can get as samples anyway, from Sephora

Givenchy noir Cotoure 4in1mascara
Givenchy noir Couture 4in1mascara
Givenchy noir Cotoure 4in1mascara
Givenchy noir Couture 4in1mascara

1. Givenchy Noir Cotoure 4in1mascara:  What I can admire about this product is just the packaging! Don’t think I am just hating it because it is sample size. LOL I tried it as I always was curious what difference do these high-end brands make that make them so costly. The weird wand with kind of 3 bubbles/circles is very useless. The space between them is even more useless. The formula is clumpy. Every time I pull out the wand,I get this product right on the tip of the wand and I need to swipe it to remove excess which I find weird as I never had such experience with other brands.

What it claims:

(Quoting from Sephora)

A four-in-one mascara that creates intense volume, strong curl, infinite length, and complete lash care.
This multitasking mascara is formulated with Givenchy’s exclusive lash booster expert complex that provides nutrition, revitalization, fortification, and protection.

My result:

1. No volume

2.No curl

3. no length

I might just use it for the lash care qualities, using my technique to create volume and length.

Le Rouge Givenchy

2. Le Rouge Givenchy- Check out my detailed review of the one I already have, here

3. Le Soin Noir

This is an anti-ageing product. Haven’t use it yet so can’t really tell how it is for now.

givenchy hydra sparkling first step luminescence moisturizing lotion
givenchy hydra sparkling first step luminescence moisturizing lotion

.4. Givenchy hydra sparkling first step luminescence moisturizing lotion– I tried this one once. It is not greasy at all, keeps skin hydrated and has a very refreshing smell. I hope this sample size would be good enough for me to judge the product’s performance.

So these are all the goodies I received from Glambox that was a total disappointment and today ,again I’ll make a promise never to subscribe again.

Review-Avon Mega Effects Mascara

I’m starting to feel it’s been a while since I did a review post. So here is a quick and short review on a product I still don’t know why it existed. :/ I don’t want to sound harsh but I really want to pour it out there.

Avon Mega Effects MAscara
Avon Mega Effects Mascara

It is the Avon  Mega Effects Mascara, That same unusual mascara with paint brush kinda wand, few years back, the only difference it this one is in black and silver tube , while the previous one was red and black.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara
Avon Mega Effects Mascara

This is not the same as any conventional mascara we have with a slender tube and a pointy straight wand. This pretty much looks like a paint brush. The bristles are made of rubber which I kind of like. The formula is a bit watery though, If by mistake you blink for a second while applying, you are in big trouble!(happened with me a lot).

To be honest, I find no difference with my lashes after first application. My lashes are short and thin even after this. So I had to wait for sometime for it to be a bit dry then apply my 2nd coat. Not much of a difference! I expected a lot form this mascara, for the price they are offering, I expected it to at least lift up my lashes and coat beautifully to make it look fuller but nothing of that sort happened.

So buy it only if you find it cheaper and only if you have natural long and thick lashes. This won’t help in anyway, at least not for me.

Would I buy this again?

A big ,No!

I took a picture of how it is supposed to be applied as removing the so-called wand is a bit tricky and one should be careful not to break it.

2. Pull it out

3. Apply , below the lashes as well as top. Working on top of lashes will be very difficult using this wand, however you can tilt and bend the rush according to ease.

4. Ready to go back in and close properly.

Acne and Pimple Face Wash

DIY’s has been one of my favorite! You must have noticed by now, how I share with you all few DIY I know in my blog. Reading fellow bloggers’ blogs has been part of my blogging routine and that is where I found this amazing blog The Remedy Genie.

She has a collection of home made remedies for just about everything. You guys should check out her unique blog. Meeting new friend bloggers feels so good. So here is my very first guest post from this amazing and talented person.

Acne and Pimple Face Wash

Remember when you went through puberty and you suffered from the pimple breakouts or the acne? You finally hit that age where you thought it was all over and then breathed a sigh of relief, only to find out you were pretty wrongly mistaken. Unfortunately pimple break outs is something we experience most of our lives, here and there, for various reasons. Acne sufferers can barely get a break from pimples. I have friends who have suffered from acne for years, trying dozens of different acne treatments and pills and creams… it’s really never ending.

So I researched all the causes and reasons for acne and pimples, in hope to find natural ingredients that will basically fight against pimples. I have come up with a great home remedy for acne and pimple face wash using all natural ingredients, probably already in your kitchen.

This recipes is really simple and its suds free. If you feel the needs for suds, you can add 1 teaspoon of liquid castile soap, it is all natural and made from coconut oil.

Simply mix 1 tablespoon of honey with ½ tea spoon of cinnamon.

Make sure your hair it’s tied back tightly.

Rub the mixture all over your face, rub it in really well for a good couple of minutes. You can let it sit for 2 minutes after rubbing it in to let it soak up a little or just rinse it off if you are in a hurry. Pat your skin dry, it is very important to never wipe and only pat!

Honey is anti-bacterial, which cleans your skin , removes dead skin, excess oil build up and kills away the bacteria that causes the acne and pimples. It also provides you skin with natural moisture without causing it to produce excess oil to compensate for dryness. I recommend this face wash twice a day and I recommend to follow it with the topical application and face cream, you can find the links above.

I hope this home remedy for acne and pimple face wash helps you. So far I have had great feedback from friends but as we know everyone is different. If you don’t have luck with this please let me know, I do have other natural alternative remedies and would love to help.

My Recommended Online Beauty Stores/Sellers in U.A.E

Hello Glamorous Gals!

I know how you feel. Yes, you! If you are reading this, then you might be someone living in one of U.A.E’s emirates and on the look out for reliable, trustworthy online stores that delivers at your door step. Ever since I came here in Dubai, all I did was online shopping. Not proud of it though. But what can a new comer do to divert attention and kill homesickness? shopping….makeup and lots of makeup shopping.!!! 😛 It’s been 5 years now, and during this period, came across different Facebook sellers, some cheated but mostly very true to their work. Besides Facebook I started exploring local websites too.

Why do most of us shop online?

There may be plenty of reasons , but mine are:

1. Convenience of getting all the products at my doorstep.

2. Kill my urge to shop. Come one let’s admit it, online shopping is better than shopping directly from malls. I’ll end up buying 20 products in malls instead of 5. I can hold myself when doing online shopping due to certain doubts such as, product might not be exactly as how it is in pictures. So at most, I can buy eye pencils, lip pencils, eyeshadow palettes , primers etc where there won’t be an issue in getting the right shades.

3. When I’m not in mood of informing hubby dear about my shopping, online is best 😛 (I’m not proud of this, trust me)

But we hesitate sometimes for the following reasons:

1. Advance payment required

2. Unknown seller

3. Doubtful authenticity of product

4. Longer delivery period

5. Not knowledgeable enough (will elaborate this in another post)

Today I’ll be solving your problem to some extent by sharing with you all my recommended Online Beauty stores/sellers in United Arab Emirates. I have personally ordered from each and every one of them , no need to worry about the products’ authenticity as they are reliable, trustworthy with very good customer service and above all they offer Cash On Delivery. Yayy!  Below are the list. not in any particular order.

1. 1st in my list is Ebeautique. My favorite and trusted seller as well as one of my sponsors. You can check their banner at the right hand side bar and click to go directly to their online store. For this one, you need to have an Instgaram account as the products are posted over there. You will get all brands from them on pre-order basis. Once products are available, delivery within 2 days.

2. Indelath

A Facebook online page that deals with all make up brands from drugstore to high-end. They operate from U.A.E as well as Pakistan. Very good customer service, the lady dealing with me is very polite and patient enough to bear all my queries regarding pricing. As should any seller. 🙂 But let me tell you, I have encountered rude ones too, so if you find someone very nice, you are lucky. LOL

3. BasharaCare is an online beauty store based in Dubai, U.A.E that provides elite choices of quality skincare products. This online store is a bit different from others as they don’t deal with “common” brands. When I first visited their online store, I was shocked to see a lot of brands I haven’t heard before (beauty brand and I don’t know? How can that happen!)but the variety of skincare products made me do my research about the brands and was actually surprised that those are some of the finest luxury skincare brands one can get. I wasted no time and made my first order. ❤ If you are someone who values skin’s health, then you should try some of their products. Go to their website and explore!

4. Avon, FM & other cosmetic products is a Facebook online store similar to Indelath. They deal in all kinds of beauty products of almost all brands from drugstore to high-end. I bought my very first NYX glitter palette from them. ❤ Customer service is very good, quick delivery and very cooperative. I have ordered more from them. ❤ So excited for those.

5. Laylam is one of the most trusted online store , they have brands like Sigma Brushes, Sleek and Coastal Scents. There is no doubt that you will get 100% authentic stuff from them. The website is specially designed for mothers who can’t just go out in the market to get their needs, so they provide us ladies beauty essentials as well as baby necessities too in the comfort of our homes.

6.Alshop is an online store that not only provides us with beauty products but also other items we need in our daily lives, perfumes, mobiles, laptops etc. They have almost all brands that aren’t available in our beauty stores.  Brands that can only be bought online such as BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents, Red Chilli etc. Takes a while for delivery around a week, but still okay. They sell 100% genuine products which is a plus point.

7. Glamazle  It’s been a while since I ordered from them. But last time I did, it was a good experience with very quick delivery service. But a lot of disappointment at times when you finally see the products you wanted after searching the whole world for it,just to know it’s out of stock :/ But nevertheless , worth everything. You will be amazed by the pricing. While Laylam and Alshop are a bit costly, Glamazle is opposite. They are a bit lesser than those two.

Hope this post helps, if so, do comment below your suggestions for online stores not mentioned here or share your experience with the above.

Don’t forget to “like” my Facebook and get updates on my next post which will be on “How to shop safely online” I will be giving tips based on my experience on how to shop for beauty products and be safe enough to receive counterfeits.

DIY- BB Cream

Hello Gorgeous girls!

Easy peasy BB cream recipe just right here! 😀

Let’s start first with the question:

What is BB cream?

BB stand for Beauty Balm. It is made to be an all-in-one product to replace primer, moisturiser, foundation and sunblock. Can be worn alone or with foundation on top or under face powder, totally depends on your preference as per your skin type and desired coverage.

Home made BB cream
Home made BB cream

What you need:

Face Primer

Sunblock if your moisturiser doesn’t have SPF.

face powder or loose powder , cornflour is advisable for very oily skin

Face Serum (optional)

Empty container

Any stick to stir

There is no fixed measurement for this one as we all have different skin type and skin tone. If you have dry skin, you might want to add more moisturiser and very less powder, if oily skin you might want to add more cornflour etc.

So basically you need to take equal portions of each ingredient. Start with very less quantity as it is going to be first time, you can always add more if desired but if mistake happens with huge quantity , you will have difficulty adjusting.

Start with half tsp of each. With mine, I added half 1/4 tsp of face powder and 1/4 of cornflour as I want more matte finish due to my oily skin. Just mix everything thoroughly till it is smooth and all clumps are gone. Keep in a clean container and your BB cream is ready!

Set your BB cream with loose powder if you have super oily skin to make it last longer.

Let me know if you made yours, if you did, click a picture and tag me on my instagram.

How to remove make up under/around eyes!

Hello beautiful readers,

Today’s post is basically a make up tip and would be very short. Many of you might already be doing this, but I’m sure some do not because I myself took awhile i discovering this.

Removing make up can be a bit challenging. We wipe our face using make up removers, then wash with the best facewash only to find some signs of our eyeliners all smeared under and around our eyes. I used to rub that with tissue paper. Ouch! Always be kind to your eyes, girls!

So here is a video for your all to see.

Enjoy 🙂
